When polled, only 12% of Canadians were familiar with Avi Lewis as NDP leader. Building name recognition takes a lot of hard work. Maybe he’ll start a Substack like his wife? It’s the thing to do these days…
There are 7 upcoming by-elections in Canada, but Lewis has declined to run in any of them. Smart strategy to focus on party building at the NDP? Or even smarter to avoid the current (almost staggering) popularity of the Carney juggernaut?
Speaking of by-elections, what’s unfolding in the UK is the peak of the British electorate being gloriously unserious. Nigel Farage trigged a by-election for August 13th to help stave off accusations of financial impropriety. All the other major parties have declined to run against him, and now Count Binface is ahead in the polls.
